The New Bisaya-Cebuano Learning Kit

Updated: Sep 27

Let me take you back to when it all began.

In 2023, a parent approached me, asking if I had any learning materials for her kids. At the time, I didn’t have much to offer beyond my newly launched children’s books. Most of my lessons and content were designed for adults, and I had nothing specific for kids.

That moment got me thinking. I realized my current learning kit wasn’t enough. I knew I could improve it—make it more fun, engaging, and memorable for learners of all ages.

Conceptualization

While I loved creating my original learning kit (and I’m so grateful to everyone who purchased it), it no longer aligned with my bigger vision. So, I paused production and began planning something even better—a learning kit with a clear goal and direction, guiding learners on the road to fluency.

On the night of February 5, 2024, I began drafting a new learning kit on my phone. My goal was to create interactive resources for both kids and adults who enjoy a hands-on, engaging learning style. I wanted to design something that would help build a strong foundation in Cebuano, while also making learning fun for everyone. Honestly, I could barely sleep—my brain just wouldn’t stop throwing new ideas at me, like it was on a creative caffeine binge!

That’s when the idea for the monthly learning kit boxes was born. Each box would cover specific topics, packed with reusable materials so that parents with multiple children could save money and get the most out of the resources.

Early struggles

I made a plan for the whole year to decide what goes into each box.

But turning that vision into reality wasn’t easy. The ideas were big, but transforming them into learning materials took a lot of patience and hard work. I spent countless hours brainstorming, researching, designing, and making prototypes.

Some days, the workload felt overwhelming, and I questioned whether I’d taken on too much. LOL. Don't worry, I love and enjoy what I'm doing I think that doesn't count as stress.

Creating interactive materials, activity books, and pronunciation guides required incredible attention to detail. But even on the toughest days, I stayed focused on my goal—providing something meaningful for my students.

The Final Push

Throughout it all, my passion for teaching Cebuano kept me going. Every time I completed a new resource, it reminded me why I started this journey. I wanted to offer something valuable that made learning Cebuano enjoyable, not just a task.

As the launch day drew near, new challenges emerged—finalizing the kits, organizing everything, and making sure everything was ready for the big day. There were moments of doubt, but I pushed through, reminding myself of how far I had come.

Launch Day—September 18

Finally, on September 18, after 7 months of preparation, I officially launched the Cebuano Learning Kit! Seeing everything come together was an incredible feeling, and sharing it with all of you made it even better.
